PROJECT 03

For this project “ art in resident”, we are doing a hub ,a place for designer, specifically for the fading culture item in the making for a comeback. Over time, nyonya culture especially nyonya beads shoe ,slowly begins to fade through the entire world. Modern influences, society factor and technology that has simplifies effort made tremendous erosion of culture, widely (something make in china) . It is the responsibility of us to evoke strong support and transition in order to for artistic culture to preserve and flourish. So, it’s a space for not just for the artisans work and live but also for the community of similar interest to participate and produce their work of art with extensive spatial programming & facilities provided to produce their desired outcome. The idea of‘making’shall forever be embedded and continue in order to preserve the‘forgotten’art and culture

As for me, why nyonya beads shoe? I found that there are very few places or workshop in Malaysia to teach how to make nyonya beads shoes, and it can even be said that there aren't. Although there are many cultural museums that inherit the Nyonya culture, the disappearance of culture cannot be effectively solved. The reason is that a pair of traditional embroidered shoes takes about 3 months to complete, and modern young people are tired of time-consuming and laborious work.

So, those are the reason for me to create “ Beaden “ a place for learning how to make beads shoe. Means beads garden,  I try to create a learning environment that improves efficiency and reduces boredom. It’s a culture museum, a gallery , and also a workshop.
